Tax lien certificates can be a profitable investment and have a lot going for them including double digit profit rates mandated by United States law and secured by real estate. On the flip-side, tax lien certificates can be a costly investment because there are some pitfalls which, if not avoided, could end up costing you far more than what you initially invested.
