In Alabama, tax collector's sell Alabama tax lien certificates to the winning bidder at the delinquent property tax sale. The original owner has three years to redeem his or her interest in the property. To redeem, the original owner must tender the amount the investor paid to purchase the tax lien certificate plus 12% per annum on the minimum and the overbid.

Important the deed conveyed upon expiration of the redemption period is not sufficient. You'll need to consult your legal professional for assistance with a quiet title action.
