In Maryland, the County Tax Collector will sell Tax Lien Certificates to winning bidders at the Caroline County Tax Lien Certificates sale. According to state law Maryland Tax Lien Certificates can earn as much as 6% to 24% per annum None on the amount winning bidders pay to purchase Maryland Tax Lien Certificates. In addition, Maryland Tax Lien Certificates are secured by real estate. According to Maryland law a property owner has Six (6) months to pay Caroline County the amount the winning bidder paid to purchase the Tax Lien Certificates plus 6% to 24% per annum None or risk forfeiting the property to the person who purchased the Tax Lien Certificates at the Caroline County Tax Lien Certificates sale.

Additional Notes:

Property owner retains possession during redemption: According to (Sec. 14-830 New Window) the 'owner of any property sold under the provisions of this subtitle shall have the right, during the period of redemption, to continue in possession of, and to exercise all rights of ownership over the property until the right of redemption has been finally foreclosed...'

Attaining a Tax Deed: According to (Sec. 14-833 New Window) the owner of a tax lien certificate can file for a tax deed six (6) months after the purchase of the tax lien but no later than two (2) years from the date the tax lien certificate was purchased.
